Van Hire Battersea

All you need to know about hiring a van in Battersea

Battersea is an area that most people have heard of when you talk about locations in the Capital. Situated south of the river, this large district of London is part of the London Borough of Wandsworth and extends along the south bank of the River Thames. With a borough population of around 320,000 residents, it’s seen as a popular place to live based on its large green spaces, trendy bars and close proximity to Clapham.

Battersea is probably best known for its iconic landmarks Battersea Power Station, the Battersea Bridge and Battersea Park. Battersea Park is a 200-acre green space with a large lake that is popular with rowers during the summer months. It also boasts a stunning Chinese Pagoda and a children’s zoo. These days it is popular with runners, families and outdoor enthusiasts alike, but before 1846, this area was known as Battersea fields and was a popular spot for duelling.

Battersea Power Station is the largest brick building in Europe. At its peak it was supplying a fifth of London’s power, supplying electricity to such famous landmarks as the Houses of Parliament and Buckingham Palace. Over the years it has featured in movies, computer games and numerous Doctor Who episodes, as well as featuring on the cover of Pink Floyd’s album, Animals. Decommissioned in 1983, the now-defunct power station was then purchased in 2012 by the current shareholders and it, and the surrounding area, is currently being redeveloped.

Aside from its famous landmarks, Battersea is also home to the widely known Battersea Dogs and Cats Home. Established in 1860, the centre aims to never turn away any dog or cat in need and has seen over 3.1 million animals rescued, reunited, and rehomed since it was founded.

Battersea is a popular area of London to live and visit. It has a bustling nightlife, and plenty of good shopping, and attracts professionals, young couples, and families from all walks of life. It also benefits from some of the lowest council tax rates in London, which also makes it a popular choice as a place to live. The large-scale regeneration of the Power station into a community of restaurants, shops, green spaces, culture and residential living has only increased the attraction of this area. This also included a new underground link to the Northern Line and the construction of two new underground stations which opened in September 2021.

Getting around Battersea has been made easier with the new underground links, as before these, the nearest underground was a good walk away. Battersea Park Train Station is still a quick route into the capital, taking just four minutes to reach Victoria train station. Nearby Clapham Junction is equally as popular with Battersea residents. It has direct trains into London Waterloo in just seven minutes. If you prefer to or need to drive, the area is like any other London location and can fall foul to traffic jams and snarls, especially at peak times. Battersea is outside the congestion zone, so, there are no charges. However, it is within the Ultra-Low Emissions Zone, so you may need to pay the ULEZ charge if it applies to your vehicle. Like many London boroughs, parking on the street may be limited to permit holders only on some roads. There are car parks, like the one at the new Power Station redevelopment, and on-road parking is available. Just remember to check if you need Ringo or Pay by Phone to park easily and without hassle.

Van hire in Battersea

With a record number of vans now on the UK’s roads, it's clear that there are times when only a van will do. Vans now account for 11.4% of the total number of vehicles in use, being the go-to vehicle for many. Many businesses now also look at hiring vans instead of purchasing them. So, if you need a larger vehicle for whatever purpose, and you don’t own one, we may be able to help. Nationwide Hire UK have vans of all makes and models available for short- and long-term hire. Whether it’s a reliable workhorse for your Battersea plumbing business or a crew van to transport the team to a construction site in SW11, we have the perfect self-drive vehicle available to you.

Our self-drive vans come in all models and sizes. So, no matter whether it’s a single van required on an ad-hoc basis or extra vehicles to support your fleet, we've got it covered.

Smaller vans such as the Transit or Caddy, are a great choice when space isn’t the priority. They can still accommodate a sizeable load so are perfect for deliveries or for carrying tools and equipment. Vans of this size start from around £101.98 for a one-day hire.

Larger, more specialised vans such as SprintersTipper TransitsCherry Pickers and Crew vans, are perfect for larger cargos and businesses in the construction industry. These can be hired for a minimum of 24 hours or for longer depending on your requirement and availability. We also offer discounts on some advanced bookings.

If your business needs to transport chilled or frozen cargo, our Fridge or Freezer vans are perfect. These allow for a temperature-controlled cargo and we can accommodate special requests such as standby sockets or dual compartments if needed. Prices start from as little as £127.71 per day.

Hire options are flexible on all our vehicles, meaning you can hire a van for a day, a month or even longer. Private van hire in Battersea

81% of these van hires come from corporate customers. But amongst the estimated 5 million van rentals in the UK every year, private van hires are still common, especially when it comes to DIY house moves and clearances. No matter what you may require a van for, ours are available for hire on a day-by-day basis, for as little as 24 hours, and most can be driven on a standard UK licence.

If you are moving into or out of Battersea, a Luton Van is a perfect vehicle for the do-it-yourself house move. Not only are they spacious, but if you request one with a tail lift it makes it easier to load bulkier items. Definitely a plus for any DIY house move. For smaller removal jobs such as furniture transportation, we’d recommend the Transit van. These still provide you with plenty of storage space but can be a better option, especially if you’ve never driven a van before.

How we can help with van hire in Battersea

Whether you need a van for business or personal use, van hire with Nationwide Hire is easy. Our friendly team is on hand to help and we’re happy to answer any questions you have. Advice is available as and when required and we’re also on here to offer suggestions and guidance should you need it. On pick up or delivery, we can take you through vehicle checks if needed and also help familiarise you with the vehicle. We always recommend checking height restrictions in advance for parking and making sure any extra permits or charges for driving or parking (particularly important for London driving) are obtained. We also recommend you know of any payload restrictions the vehicle has; it is a legal requirement to monitor the load's weight, and police can issue penalties should these limits be exceeded.
